3D CITY RENDER BORING TITLE OF MINE

One of my not so latest projects, a short animation practising camera movements and a little after effects (colouring and light FX).
An extension to this project would be to render some overhead traffic, Fifth Element style.

Seems like such a bizarre area, like Avatar but upside-down..

Game Of Thrones magic revealed!

Here's a few shots from the notyetreleased serie of Game of Thrones.
Some amazing visual work in here, I think it's amazing to have this quality if production
In a series, it must put the pressure on the film maker.

Maunsell Forts - AWESOME RELICS!

So here's Maunsell Forts just off the East Coast of England, nearest town is Herne Bay.
I think these are some of the coolest structures/relics i've seen in ages, I will endevour to visit them and possibly get inside for some awesome photos!

Here's Knock John Fort, equally as cool as the Maunsell Artillery Fortifications;

Doctorr Who? Concept Art

I started editing one of the photos from the Control Room, with the original intention of created a revived looking control room, fully lit/re-textured in parts/cleaned up/animated .. I succeded, but it veered off to a Dalek-ridden image (i'd found some awesome hi-res pics of Daleks).
Two versions - one as an enclosed space, light from the ceiling (perhaps the entire ceiling is some kind of light, transparent yellowy material) the other as a glass ceiling, letting in natural daylight but retaining the phosphorescent colour from internal artificial lighting.
The original picture is also included;

Here's some of my reference material;

And also, i stumbled across this visual while i was searching google for '1930 laboratory'

Battersea Power Station

So, Thursday night me and Hol were given a tour around Battersea Power Station.
First off was a brief tour of the exterior, then we were allowed inside, up a staircase within one of the 4 chimneys, and then into one of the control rooms, which had all sorts of dials, with titles like 'Hyde Base 1', 'Shutdown' and 'Exciters'.
The whole thing felt like a trip through a real life Bioshock level, was pretty awesome.
Here are 4 photoshopped pics from the night.

Randomz

Random collection of images over the past... 6 months?

Dune sketch

Here's a quick sketch I did listening to 'to tame a land' by Iron Maiden,
maiden lyrics are Dune-related.. and the image is too now (ish)

I've uploaded a bit of a step-by-step, hopefully it's more informative than boring :)

- Not sure about the chrome sphere, got a feeling there needs to be something to enhance the composition there, but the sphere isn't cutting the mustard.

Cave Troll

First time i've attempted using a unifying texture on an image, I created a brush from an image of some veins (good suggestion from hol) and overlayed it across the entire image.
I think it works well, and gives definition and noise to essentially blank parts of the composition.

I also like the Golem-like appeal of the Troll, eyes were originally red but I decided to change them to a colder off-white, giving it more of a natural character.

Some foreground is needed, Hol suggested a deer or foal in the right corner, I just wish I could sillhouette them correctly!

Slussen Masterplan

Here's an animation I worked on for Foster + Partners,
Drawing by Narinder Sagoo and coloured by Holly Handley.
All 3d work, editing + filming by myself.

Flyer

Latest experiment with chrome metallic material, using coloured pencil. Unfortunately, I only realised 1/3rd of the way through colouring that the pencils were Derwent Watercolour Pencils and proved quite tough after a while.

The design of the craft is quite illogical, the turbines at the back are facing the side, yet it is implied the vehicle is shooting forward, i'd like to think the forward motion is provided via jet engines below deck, and the turbines to the rear assist with the rotation of the craft.

NWA Car

This will be the first time i've seen this render in it's totality.
As i've had to render a few seconds one night, then a few seconds more the next ...
And i've used Windows Live Movie Maker to stitch it together.

Someone may have already watched this while i've been typing.

Early concepts for the Car

NotPegLeg This started as basic shaded image, I created the black shapes using the lasso tool, and then did the same with the colours (skin, shirt, trousers).

This one here I made for Jamie, it's an illustration of a scene/environment for a character in his writing,
The Three Deaths.

This is a photo-collage illustration on the same theme as above,
All original photography, which either my girlfriend or me took.

The Three Deaths from Scotland

Sketches numbero Uno

Here's some sketches i've done recently

Skru-Top ... as you can see from the quick drawing on the left, the intention is that SkruTops camera element screws it's way around the 'spine'.. giving it variations in height and a 360° viewing angle (even though it's quite an inane functionality .. i think it'd look cool)

Untitled-1 ... i really like the chrome material detail on this one, as with SkruTop the letraset marker i used helped with a 3rd tone, the quality of scan has also slightly positerized the original which isn't a terrible thing.

This is Chops (Originally), he hasn't moved from this position in 866 years... the character is a native having just discovered Chops he uses it as shade from the Binary Suns.

Zombina, the peculiar head shape defined this character as a zombie.. not overly keen on this drawing, but thought i'd put it in because it was also an exercise in shading the human(ish) shape.

This is The Beefcake, Beefcake deserved to be in Carmageddon.
First attempt at concentrating on shade on a car form!
